Friday 9th April 2004
Good Friday.
After a long lie (9.00) we went to Soweto. We spent an hour at the Saint Paul’s Anglican Church to sample 75 minutes
of the three-hour service. The church was full but we managed to squeeze into the pews and were made very welcome. The service
was conducted in Zulu with a Sotho translator. When it came to the few hymns that were in English to congregation were more
than happy to share their hymnbooks with us. The singing and harmonies of the congregation were very touching and all left
the church very uplifted.
Since most of the shops and the Rosebank Market were closed, we just chilled out by the pool.
