Day 3

Saturday 10th April 2004

Breakfast at 7am and an 8am departure from the Rosebank. The Shawlands group were transported in their 17 seat Mercedes Sprinter minibus and two Nissan Almera’s whilst the Realogile group were in Booysie’s VW minibus. We left Johannesburg on the N4 motorway towards Nelspruit and Belfast. From there we took the long way round via Lydenburg, Dullstroom then Hoedspruit and eventually arrived at the Pezulu Bush Camp, just before sunset. Our arrival was marked by Mr. O’Neil driving under a low walkway to the lookout hide and knocking the air conditioning unit off the top of the Sprinter van. It was noted that Fiona Girvan had moved faster than the cheetahs that we were about to see during the next days.

By the time we settled in and went down for our evening meal it was dark and all the marvellous moths and other flying beasties of the night we out in full force. This had the effect of unsettling some and freaking out Mrs. Kerr.

Before our meal we started our daily ritual of taking our anti-malarial tablets. Poor Gillian O’ had great difficulty in swallowing her tablet, but after half an hour she did manage most of it! After the meal we went off to an early bed since we had an early start the next morning.
